Over the last decade, we have assisted some of the world’s most famous tech companies and several global leaders in colocation data centers to design, install and service comprehensive security solutions for their data centers across Asia Pacific. Sites have ranged from large, hyperscale data centers to smaller, leased spaces in colocation data centers.
Identifying the importance of this vertical market, the unique requirements and regulations, and its rapid growth trajectory, we have put in place a number of expert colleagues focused on this vertical. They leverage our global cloud and data center vertical strategy, resources and expertise to provide the best service and solutions to clients in a customer-driven, vertical-focused approach.
Securing a data center
Data centers are sensitive, critical sites with very high requirements, high standards and a low tolerance for error. Compliance, the ability to identify (or predict) a potential threat at the first instance and a system which facilitates fast action are all essential. Only a flawless detailed design which meets the client’s requirements, standards and local regulations is acceptable and will deliver a successful final result.
Data center security is best designed with a layered approach. System design should comprise all aspects of physical security including a complex video surveillance solution, multi-layered access control (card readers, turnstiles, anti-tailgating and biometric solutions), perimeter solutions, boom barriers, alarms, key management systems and more. There are also various specialized advanced solutions available on the market to meet specific data center challenges.
Largescale projects easily consist of thousands of devices across a range of systems, typically integrated on one open, scalable, centralized platform managed at an on-site SOC (security operations center) and connected to the client’s global servers.
During system implementation, data center projects have unique challenges. Sites typically have incredibly strict protocols and regulations for ‘live’ and ‘in-progress’ zones of the data center to ensure that security standards were met for the highly sensitive ‘live’ zones. Through extensive data center project experience and strict and effective site management, our project teams on the ground are able to adhere to the client’s specific protocols and regulations on each project.
