With the uncertainties, risks and changes brought into our lives in the current global pandemic, now, more than ever, it is important to support each other. We must support those around us, and we hope that in return, others will also extend a helping hand to us when we are in need.
Today, we share with you a story about support. About one engineer who went out of his way to support a client in critical times. But the result could not have been delivered without the help and support of his colleagues, family, and partners.
Encountering a faulty hard drive in your security system can be extremely problematic. If there is no full time, dedicated security professional at your site carrying out daily checks, it can be very difficult to identify this problem.
But late discovery can have drastic consequences.
In worst case scenarios, it can cause system failure and result in extensive loss of video surveillance footage or other important data.
In this week's Service vs ServicePlus story, we take a look at this critical issue. Through a real case, we demonstrate and how early discovery through proactive management can reduce risk and save time and money.
As companies worldwide take steps to resume normal operations and employees begin to enter the workplace once again, there is a real need for infection prevention and control in public and shared spaces. Effective procedures and protocols are essential, but there are also a number of physical solutions which can help reduce risk and exposure to Covid-19.
We present three touchless solutions which can easily be implemented at your site to reduce transmission through contact with contaminated surfaces. These touchless access control solutions can help reduce risk and build a safer site in a post Covid-19 environment.
Every year, ICD encounters hundreds of cases of security system failure at clients' sites caused by UPS failure. This is a critical issue which can result in extended system downtime, exposing sites unnecessary to risk.
How can this disruptive issue be avoided? We present you with two scenarios: Service vs ServicePlus

Covid-19 has changed the world. Over the last few months, people and organizations have adapted to new norms and new ways of operating. While some changes are temporary, many procedures, standards and habits will be changed for good.
So how does this outbreak affect the way we look at physical security? How should security professionals adapt and procedures change, now and into the future? We spoke with four security managers to hear what they have learnt so far.
Facial recognition technology has seen major growth and a lot of hype in the security industry, and beyond, in recent years. However, as wearing a face mask has become common practice in countries worldwide since the outbreak of Covid-19, there is an obvious question:
How do masks affect the performance of facial recognition solutions?
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to pose a threat to people in countries across the world. In some regions and industries, employees are already (or are still) working onsite but risk of infection still remains. Companies have a responsibility to take effective prevention and control measures to reduce the risk of the virus spreading in the workplace, and facilitate contact tracing should an infection occur.
The outbreak of the novel coronavirus CoViD-19 has recently caused widespread concern across China and worldwide. Early symptoms of the virus include having a fever and a dry cough, so timely and accurate monitoring of people with a fever in public and shared spaces can play a significant role in containing the epidemic and ensuring effective infection control.
So, which kind of fever detection is accurate, efficient and safe? And which solution is best for deploying in different scenarios? We spoke with several solution partners to find out more.
